Summer social events are a killer. For the last couple of months, I’ve been inundated with people overload. It started with Memorial Day weekend and I don’t see much relief until after Labor Day weekend. Between office meetings and events, dinners and birthday parties, I feel like I’ve already maxed out on repeated stories, exaggerated positivity and food overindulgence.
I need routine, schedules and predictability to feel centered. I’m happiest when I have eaten only food with a calorie content easily tracked in my “Lose It!” app; have time for a two-mile walk in the middle of the day; have Saturdays free to go the Farmers Market and shops in town; have no need for makeup; have downtime to read and write; have the comfort of waking up in my own bed; and have my chocolate protein shake in the morning.
I love my friends and family, but too much face time sucks the life out of me. I treasure my boring life.
I love routine too. When my routine gets disturbed, I feel very off-track and disoriented. Summer with a work schedule that always changes is not working for me!

Thanks, Lauren. Varied schedules are tough, impacting my exercise routine, eating habits and sleep patterns. Hang in there. Summer goes fast.
